A screw is one of the most useful tools, which comes handy in daily life. Without screws almost every kind of work is hindered and delayed. A screw can be compared to a shaft with thread formation on the surface of it. The head of the screw has provisions for turning it. The primary use of screw is to fasten objects. It is used to form a link and a bond between two objects. With the help of a screw the objects are attached and fastened to each other. The screw helps in making the bond convenient as it can be later unfastened.

A screw has many other functions as well. Technically speaking the screw helps in translating the torque in to a linear force. It can also be defined technically as shaft with linear plane wrapped around it. The shape and size of a screw differs according to the use it is put to. For different purposes different sizes of screws are available. The screws are made with many different materials. However the most common kind of material used to make a screw is steel. Sometimes screws are needed in places where there are a greater risk of corrosion and damage by weather. In such places materials like stainless steel are more often used. The screws are also coated with materials like brass, bronze, titanium, chromium, zinc etc to provide them with greater resistance power to corrosion. Even materials like plastic or Teflon are used to manufacture screws. This is done when there is a need for electrical insulation.

The screws come in a wide variety and they are the most ultimate solutions to fastening needs. One can find a wide variety of screws and bolts in the market and choose any type of screw depending upon their needs and requirements.
